Early Life and Education
Born in 1975, Zhou Jian's interest in robotics sparked during a business trip to Japan, where he saw the new generation of smart humanoid robots. He graduated from Nanjing Forestry University with a bachelor's degree in wood processing engineering.
Rise to Success
Zhou Jian founded UBTECH Robotics in 2012, and quickly gained recognition in the industry. In 2014, while the Chinese market for intelligent humanoid robots was yet to be developed, his business began to blossom, with his company taking almost 50% of market share in the intelligent humanoid service robot industry. Zhou's company, in which he is the largest shareholder, is referred to as China's “father of robots.”
Key Business Strategies
Zhou Jian has led UBTECH Robotics to focus on humanoid robots that specialize in AI education, smart logistics, and business and consumer services. Under Zhou's leadership, the company has developed a series of hardware, curriculums, training lessons and competitions on artificial intelligence robotic education for students from elementary schools to higher educational institutions. More than 1.5 million youths worldwide have so far taken courses in AI and robot development. Zhou aims to innovate and bring smart robots into every household.
Philanthropy
In 2012, Zhou co-founded the Beijing Gan'en Philanthropic Foundation, focusing on rescue relief, community development, and education.
