Early Life and Education
Senapathy Gopalakrishnan, born on April 5, 1955, in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, displayed an early interest in science and engineering. He completed his schooling at Government Model Boys Higher Secondary School. He went on to earn a Master of Science degree in Physics in 1977 and a Master of Technology degree in Computer Science in 1979 from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras.
Rise to Success
Gopalakrishnan's career began in 1979 as a software engineer at Patni Computer Systems. In 1981, he co-founded Infosys with six other engineers, marking a turning point in his career. He held various leadership roles within Infosys, including CEO and Managing Director from 2007 to 2011, and Vice Chairman until 2014. Under his leadership, Infosys grew to become a global leader in IT services. He also played a key role in the development of the Global Delivery Model (GDM), which has become a cornerstone of the Indian software industry.
