Early Life
Sean Parker was born in Herndon, Virginia, on December 3, 1979. His father, Bruce Parker, was a U.S. government oceanographer, and his mother, Diane Parker, worked in TV advertising. Parker's interest in programming began early, with his father teaching him to code at age seven. During his teenage years, he was involved in hacking and programming. He attended Oakton High School and Chantilly High School, where he convinced the school administration to count the time he spent coding as a foreign language class. Parker graduated from high school in 1998.
Rise to Success
Parker's career took off with the co-founding of Napster in 1999. Napster, a pioneering peer-to-peer file-sharing service, quickly gained millions of users. Although Napster faced legal challenges and was eventually shut down, it revolutionized the music industry and established Parker as a prominent figure in the tech world. In 2004, Parker became the founding president of Facebook. His role was instrumental in securing early funding and developing the company's initial structure. Parker's early investment in Spotify in 2010 also proved to be successful.
