Early Life and Education
Pieter van der Does was born in 1969 in Amstelveen, Netherlands. He pursued economics between 1988 and 1995, studying at Clark University, the University of Amsterdam, and Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University. He earned a master's degree in economics from the University of Amsterdam. During this time, he also pursued mountaineering activities.
Career
Van der Does started his professional career in 1995 at ING Netherlands as an operational manager. In 1996, he moved to Elsevier. In 1999, he co-founded Bibit Global Payment Services. He served as the Chief Commerce Officer at Bibit. Bibit was later sold to Royal Bank of Scotland in 2004. In 2006, van der Does co-founded Adyen with Arnout Schuijff, an online payment processing platform. Adyen has since become a trusted payment solution for major companies such as Spotify, Facebook, Netflix, and eBay. Adyen's IPO in June 2018 was a significant milestone.
