Early Life
Palmer Freeman Luckey was born on September 19, 1992, in Long Beach, California. He was homeschooled and developed an early interest in electronics and engineering. At a young age, he was already fixing and reselling damaged iPhones and collecting VR headsets. Luckey pursued courses at Golden West College and Long Beach City College before attending California State University, Long Beach, where he studied journalism.
Rise to Success
Luckey's fascination with virtual reality led him to create the Oculus Rift, a VR headset that revived the VR industry. The project began with a prototype he built in his parents' garage. In 2012, he founded Oculus VR, and the company's Kickstarter campaign was highly successful. Facebook acquired Oculus VR in 2014 for $2 billion.
