Early Life
Nik Storonsky was born on July 21, 1984, in Dolgoprudny, Russia. From a young age, Storonsky showed an interest in economics and business. He pursued a strong academic path, completing his Master of Science in General and Applied Physics at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology in 2007. He furthered his education with a Master's in Applied Economics and Finance from the New Economic School in Moscow, also in 2007. Storonsky was also a state champion swimmer.
Rise to Success
Storonsky moved to England in 2006 to begin his career as an equity derivatives trader at Lehman Brothers in London. He later worked at Credit Suisse until 2013. He acquired British citizenship in 2013. In 2015, Storonsky co-founded Revolut with Vlad Yatsenko. Revolut began as a travel card but quickly expanded to offer a range of financial services, including currency exchange, international money transfers, and investment options. Under Storonsky's leadership as CEO, Revolut has experienced exponential growth, becoming a major player in the fintech sector.

Storonsky's vision for Revolut centered around creating a seamless, low-cost financial service platform. Key strategies included: rapid product expansion to offer diverse financial services, global expansion into numerous markets, securing necessary licenses to operate in different regions, and technological innovation to improve customer experience. His focus on data and a hands-on approach to product development helped Revolut stand out. The company has expanded to 38 countries.
Philanthropy
In 2022, Storonsky condemned the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Revolut pledged to match donations made to the Red Cross in solidarity with victims of the war.
