Michael Ilan Yoel "Mikey" Federmann was born in Haifa, Israel, on September 9, 1943. His parents, Bella and Yekutiel "Ksil" Federmann, raised him alongside his sister, Irit Federmann-Landau. Federmann received a bachelor's degree in economics and political science and a master's degree in business administration from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Prior to his business career, he served in the Israel Defense Forces' elite unit Sayeret Matkal.
