Ludwig Kurt Merckle was born in 1965 in Ulm, Germany. He is the son of Adolf Merckle, the founder of the Merckle Group. Ludwig earned a degree in Business Information Technology from the University of Mannheim.
Rise to Success
Merckle's career began in 1993 as a strategic consultant at Roland Berger. In 1995, he joined the family business as an assistant manager, quickly rising through the ranks. In 1997, he became the CEO of Merckle GmbH, the parent company of Ratiopharm GmbH. In 2005, he became the CEO of VEM Vermögensverwaltung GmbH. In 2009, he was appointed CEO of Merckle Service GmbH after his father's passing, taking on the responsibility of managing the family's diversified holdings in pharmaceuticals, construction materials, and other investments.
