Liang Rubo's early life and education laid the foundation for his future success. He attended Nankai University in Tianjin, China, where he studied Micro Electronics, graduating in 2005. It was during his time at Nankai University that Liang first met Zhang Yiming, with whom he would later co-found ByteDance.

One of ByteDance's initial successful apps was Toutiao, a news aggregator. The company experienced rapid growth and innovation with the launch of Douyin in 2016, which would later be known internationally as TikTok. He played a crucial role in developing key products like Douyin and Lark. In 2021, Liang took over as CEO of ByteDance, succeeding Zhang Yiming.
