Early Life
Lakshmi Niwas Mittal was born on June 15, 1950, in Sadulpur, Rajasthan, India, into a Marwari family. He graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from St. Xavier's College, Kolkata, in 1970. Mittal's journey into the steel industry began in his family's steel business in India.
Rise to Success
In 1976, Mittal established his own steel company in Indonesia. This company would eventually become ArcelorMittal. He expanded his business through strategic mergers and acquisitions, acquiring steel plants globally. In 2006, he orchestrated a merger with Arcelor, creating ArcelorMittal, the world's largest steelmaking company, where he serves as executive chairman.
