Early Life and Education
Lütfü Haluk Bayraktar was born on October 4, 1978, in Istanbul, Turkey. He is the son of Özdemir Bayraktar, the founder of Baykar, a prominent Turkish defense and aviation company. He completed his undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering at the Middle East Technical University (METU) in 2000. He furthered his education by earning a master's degree in the same field from Columbia University in 2002.
Rise to Success
After his studies in the United States, Bayraktar returned to Turkey and joined Baykar. Initially, Baykar was involved in the automotive supplier industry. He took on the role of engineering manager, contributing significantly to the company's endeavors in the defense industry. His responsibilities included the research, development, and production of Turkey's first national and original Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Systems. He has been integral to the company's various facets, encompassing engineering, project management, logistics, and business development.
