Early Life
Eyal Ofer was born in Haifa, Israel, in 1950. He is the son of Sammy Ofer, a Romanian-born Israeli shipping magnate. Eyal spent his formative years in Haifa, exposed to the maritime industry from a young age. He attended Atlantic College in Wales and later studied Maritime Law at the University of London. From 1967 to 1973, he served as an intelligence officer in the Israeli Air Force.
Rise to Success
Ofer's career began in the family's shipping business, where he gained experience in managing shipping fleets and international trade. Following his father's death in 2011, Eyal took control of Ofer Global and Zodiac Maritime. Under his leadership, Zodiac Maritime grew to become one of the largest privately-owned shipping companies globally, with over 180 vessels. Ofer expanded his business interests to include significant investments in real estate and other sectors. Through Global Holdings, he oversees a substantial real estate portfolio with over 120 properties worldwide.
