Early Life
Eyal Ofer was born in 1950 in Haifa, Israel. He is the son of Sammy Ofer, a Romanian-born Israeli shipping magnate, who was once the richest man in Israel. Eyal spent his summers working on his family's ships, gaining first-hand experience in the shipping industry. He attended Atlantic College in Wales and later studied Maritime Law at the University of London. He also served as an intelligence officer in the Israeli Air Force from 1967 to 1973.
Rise to Success
Ofer began his career in the maritime industry, learning the ropes in his family's shipping business. He expanded the shipping company, Zodiac Group, to operate nearly 190 ships, becoming one of the largest privately owned shipping companies. Over time, Ofer diversified his investments, moving into real estate and other sectors. He invested in properties in New York City, London, and Monaco. He is chairman of Global Holdings, a real estate holding company specializing in commercial and high-end residential developments.
