Eduard Kučera, along with Pavel Baudiš, co-founded Alwil Software in 1988 to sell antivirus software. Following the fall of Communism in 1989, they established what would become Avast Software. Avast, which secures online activities for over 435 million users, went public in 2018. Kučera served as the CEO of Avast from 1991 to 2019 and chaired the company from 2006 to 2014. In 2021, Avast merged with NortonLifeLock, now known as Gen Digital.
