Early Life
Danilo Iervolino was born on April 2, 1978, in Palma Campania, Italy. He attended the Parthenope University of Naples, where he studied economics. His father was a lawyer who ran private schools, which influenced his early interest in education. Iervolino's trip to the United States opened his eyes to the potential of online learning, which was not widely adopted in Italy at that time.
Rise to Success
Iervolino founded UniPegaso in 2006, capitalizing on the growing demand for accessible higher education. He built UniPegaso into one of Italy's largest online universities, with over 120,000 students. In 2021, Iervolino sold Multiversity, which included UniPegaso, to CVC Capital Partners for $1.3 billion.
Key Business Strategies
Iervolino's success stems from identifying a gap in the Italian education system, offering flexible, scalable digital learning options. He embraced technology and innovation, growing UniPegaso into the largest online university in Italy. Iervolino has since diversified his investments, acquiring the Serie A football club Salernitana, and investing in tech startups.
