Early Life
Boris Georgievich Nuraliev was born in Moscow, Russia, on July 18, 1958. He earned a Master of Science degree from the Moscow State University of Economics, Statistics, and Informatics. In the 1980s, he worked as a senior researcher at the Soviet State Statistics Committee.
Rise to Success
In 1987, Nuraliev became the head of the cost accounting department at a research institute within the Soviet State Statistics Committee. He was tasked with creating an "electronic teletype" to connect personal computers instead of electromechanical boxes. Nuraliev and three colleagues wrote a program for this purpose, which they later sold. In 1991, he founded 1C Company to sell business software. In 1993, his brother and junior partner, Sergey, wrote an accounting application for the DOS operating system, followed by accounting software for Windows.
Key Business Strategies
Nuraliev's strategy included a focus on a partner-based distribution model. He offered partners a significant share of the revenue, which helped 1C expand rapidly. The company also focused on developing the 1C:Enterprise platform, which has become a key product for enterprise automation. 1C also expanded its portfolio to include video games.
