Early Life
Assaf Rappaport was born on August 28, 1983, in Israel. His early life was marked by a strong interest in technology and problem-solving. He graduated from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem with a bachelor's degree in computer science, physics, and mathematics. He later earned a master's degree (MSc) in computer science from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology.
Rise to Success
Rappaport's career began with mandatory service in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in 2001, where he joined the Talpiot program. He served in Unit 81, a top-secret technological unit, and later in Unit 8200, the IDF's cyber and signal intelligence corps. After his military service, Rappaport briefly worked as a consultant at McKinsey & Company. In 2012, he co-founded Adallom, a cloud access security broker (CASB), which was acquired by Microsoft in July 2015 for approximately $320 million. Following the acquisition, Rappaport became the head of Microsoft's Israel Research & Development Center, leading the company's Cloud Security Group. In January 2020, Rappaport co-founded Wiz with Ami Luttwak, Roy Reznik, and Yinon Costica. Wiz emerged from stealth mode in December 2020 with a US$100 million Series A funding round. In March 2025, Alphabet Inc., Google's parent company, acquired Wiz for approximately US$32 billion.
