Early Life
Zhou Chengjian was born in 1966 in Qingtian County, Lishui, Zhejiang Province, China. Not much is known about his early life. He started his own business at the age of twenty.
Rise to Success
Zhou founded the Metersbonwe Group in the 1990s in Wenzhou with a loan of 200,000 yuan (US$24,691). He obtained an EMBA degree from Zhejiang University. Metersbonwe became China's largest casualwear retail brand. In 2008, his family was estimated to be worth US$1.9 billion by the Hurun Report. Zhou was ranked No. 892 in Hurun Report's Global Rich List 2014 with a wealth of US$1.9 billion.
Key Business Strategies
Zhou Chengjian focused on building Metersbonwe into a successful fashion brand and the largest casualwear retail brand in China. In 2010, he aimed to generate 20% of Metersbonwe's sales online within five years. Zhou returned as chairman of the company in January 2024 and has been trying measures to revive the business, including selling off assets.
Philanthropy
Zhou was ranked No. 36 in the 2005 China Philanthropy List for his significant donations to the local education system.
