Early Life and Education
Zhong Huaijun was born in April 1961, in Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province, China. She received a Bachelor's degree in chemistry from Jiangsu Normal University in July 1982. After graduating, she started her career as a chemistry teacher at Yan'an Middle School in Lianyungang.
Rise to Success
In 1995, Zhong Huaijun co-founded Hansoh Pharmaceutical Group with her husband, Sun Piaoyang, and an investor from Hong Kong. Initially, Sun was managing a state-owned pharmaceutical factory and was too busy, Zhong took the opportunity to lead the new company. Under her leadership, Hansoh grew rapidly. The company focused on research and development. Zhong has a 66% ownership in Hansoh.
Key Business Strategies
Zhong Huijuan has been instrumental in growing Hansoh Pharmaceutical Group into a major global enterprise. She has prioritized research and development in various therapeutic areas. By 2024, the company's R&D spending reached 2.7 billion RMB ($379.5 million). Hansoh has also licensed products, including weight-loss treatments, to global pharmaceutical giants.
Philanthropy
Sun Piaoyang and Zhong Huijuan were featured on the Hurun Philanthropy List in 2019 for their contributions to medical aid.
