Early Life
Zhang Yin, born Zhang Xiuhua in 1957 in Shaoguan, China, faced early hardships. Her father, a Red Army lieutenant, was imprisoned during the Cultural Revolution. This led her to start working at a young age to support her family, without the opportunity to attend college. She later changed her name to Yin.
Rise to Success
Zhang Yin's entrepreneurial journey began in 1985 when she started a paper trading company, Ying Gang Shen, in Hong Kong with $3,800. She recognized the potential of importing waste paper into China for recycling and packaging, and in 1990, she founded America Chung Nam with her second husband, Liu Ming Chung, in Los Angeles to source high-quality waste paper. America Chung Nam became the leading American paper exporter. In 1995, she returned to Hong Kong and co-founded Nine Dragons Paper Holdings Limited with her husband and brother, Zhang Cheng Fei.

Nine Dragons Paper primarily uses recycled paper as its raw material source.
