Zarakh Iliev was born on September 8, 1966, in Krasnaya Sloboda, Azerbaijan SSR. His family background was rooted in the community of Mountain Jews, with his father a shoemaker. Iliev learned the value of hard work from an early age, helping his father with shoemaking.
Rise to Success
At the age of 17, Iliev moved to Moscow. He began his career in retail before partnering with God Nisanov to co-found the Kievskaya Ploshchad Group of Companies in 1992. Together, they developed numerous successful projects in Moscow, including shopping centers, hotels, and agricultural centers. Iliev's company has become a major player in the Russian commercial property market, with significant assets in the fields of development and hospitality.

Iliev and Nisanov focused on strategic real estate acquisitions and developments. Their approach included building large-scale retail developments and hotels, often near metro stations. They expanded their portfolio to include the Radisson Royal Hotel, Moscow (formerly Hotel Ukraina), the Evropeyskiy Shopping Center, and Food City.
