Yvonne Bauer was born in 1977 in Hamburg, Germany, as the daughter of Heinz Bauer and Gudrun Bauer. Her family has a long history in the media industry, dating back to 1875 when Johann Andreas Ludolph Bauer founded a printing business. Yvonne studied German philology at the University of Bamberg.

Yvonne Bauer's career began with an apprenticeship at the Hoffmann und Campe publishing house. She joined Bauer Media Group in 2005 and rapidly advanced through the company.
