Early Life
Xiu Laigui was born in 1954 in Changchun City, Jilin Province, China. He holds a B.A. in Medicine from Jilin University. Before entering the pharmaceutical industry, Xiu served as an equipment technician in the Tonghua Traffic Police Detachment.
Rise to Success
In 1995, Xiu Laigui founded Xiuzheng Pharmaceutical Group by acquiring a debt-ridden, state-owned drug factory. Through strategic vision and hard work, he transformed the company into a leading pharmaceutical enterprise in China. He pioneered the modern, scalable TCM industrial model, successfully executing an IPO on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange (SZSE). His most popular product, Sidashu capsules, is a stomach pain medication. His company's product, Lianhua Qingwen, gained international attention during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Key Business Strategies
Xiu Laigui focused on the scientific validation of TCM. He built a nationwide marketing network. He invested heavily in building a first-class R&D base and the largest Chinese herbal medicine production base in the province, and building the most modern “biomedical science and technology park” in the country. Xiuzheng's key strategies included system innovation and the establishment of a modern enterprise system.
