Early Life and Career
Xiang Guangda was born in 1962 in Wenzhou, Zhejiang, China, into a working-class family. He started his career in 1980 as a mechanic at a state-run fishery company. In 1986, he and his relatives established a workshop manufacturing car windows and doors.
Rise to Success
Xiang left his job in 1988 to become a full-time entrepreneur. He founded Tsingshan Holding Group in 1988. Xiang shifted the focus to stainless steel manufacturing after a trip to Germany in 1992, seeing an opportunity to reduce China's dependence on imported metal. Tsingshan Holding Group was officially established in 2003. The company invested in nickel mines in Indonesia during the 2000s, establishing production complexes.
Key Business Strategies
Tsingshan focused on cost reduction, pioneering the use of nickel pig iron. This strategy enabled rapid growth, making Tsingshan the world's largest stainless steel producer. The company's expansion into Indonesia was a crucial move. Xiang’s investments and strategies led to Tsingshan's dominance in the stainless steel and nickel markets, establishing production plants in multiple countries.

Tsingshan Charity Foundation was established in 2015. The company's mission is to create a better living environment with stainless steel and new energy.
