Early Life
Xia Zuoquan was born in 1963. He studied computer science as an undergraduate and graduated from Guanghua School of Management of Peking University with an EMBA in 2007.
Rise to Success
Xia Zuoquan's career began at the Hubei branch of the People's Insurance Company before transitioning to the technology and investment sectors. He co-founded BYD in 1996, a company that has become a global leader in electric vehicles and batteries. In 2003, Xia founded Zhengxuan Capital, an investment firm managing over $1.4 billion in assets, with BYD as one of its investments.
Key Business Strategies
Xia Zuoquan's business strategy has focused on the burgeoning electric vehicle and battery markets. His investment firm, Zhengxuan Capital, has invested in more than 30 companies in sectors like gene sequencing, robotics, smart hardware, chip design, and supply chain finance. He is also a non-executive director of BYD, the world's largest EV maker.
Philanthropy
In 2021, Xia Zuoquan donated 10 million RMB to the BYD Charity Foundation for its daily operations.
