Wu Yajun was born in Chongqing, China, in 1964. She graduated from the Department of Navigation Engineering of the Northwestern Polytechnical University in 1984. After graduating, she worked at a state-owned factory.
Rise to Success
Wu Yajun started her career in journalism, working as an editor at the China Shirong News Agency from 1988 to 1993. In 1995, she co-founded Chongqing Zhongjianke Real Estate Co Ltd, later renamed Longfor Properties, with her then-husband Cai Kui. The company went public on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2009. She became the chairwoman of Longfor Properties in 2007, leveraging her expertise and knowledge of the real estate market. Longfor Properties, under her leadership, became a leading real estate developer in China.
Key Business Strategies
Wu Yajun focused on developing high-quality residential projects and operating shopping malls and rental apartments. She expanded Longfor Properties from Chongqing to major cities like Chengdu, Beijing, Shanghai, and Dalian. Longfor Group Holdings has renewed its strategic focus on developing residential projects and ramping up investment properties' income in around 20 higher-tier cities.
