Early Life
Vladimir Petrovich Yevtushenkov was born on September 25, 1948, in Smolensk, Russia. He pursued higher education, earning degrees in chemical technology from the Mendeleev Institute in 1973 and economics from Lomonosov Moscow State University in 1980. He also holds a PhD in economics.
Rise to Success
Yevtushenkov began his professional career at the Sverdlov Plant in 1973, later moving to the Karacharov Plastics Plant, where he became chief engineer. In 1987, he was appointed head of the Department of Science and Technology for the Moscow city government. In 1993, he founded AFK Sistema, a diversified investment holding company. Through Sistema, Yevtushenkov gained control of key assets, including the Moscow City Telephone Network (MGTS). Sistema went public in 2005.
Key Business Strategies
AFK Sistema, under Yevtushenkov's leadership, invested in various sectors, including telecommunications, retail, real estate, and healthcare. He initiated the IPO of Sistema's telecommunications assets in 2000. In 2022, Yevtushenkov reduced his shareholding in Sistema to 49.2% and stepped down from the board of directors.
Philanthropy
Yevtushenkov is actively involved in philanthropy through the Sistema Charitable Foundation, established in 2004. The foundation supports initiatives in education, culture, and healthcare, as well as regional development.
