Vladimir Krupchak was born on January 29, 1958, in Bykovo, Arkhangelsk Oblast, RSFSR, Soviet Union. He graduated from the Arkhangelsk State Medical Institute in 1980 with a degree in dentistry.

Krupchak's path to wealth began in the 1990s, when he started accumulating assets during the privatization period in Russia. He acquired the Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill (APPM), which became a significant source of his wealth. He strategically invested in the region's governance.
