Early Life
Vinod Saraf's story begins in Rajasthan, where he was born into a middle-class family. He was the eldest of seven siblings. Recognizing the importance of education, Saraf excelled in his studies, graduating as a state topper at 17 and earning a gold medal in his MBA from BITS Pilani at 19.
Rise to Success
After his MBA, Saraf's initial career was marked by challenges in securing positions in multinational corporations due to his Hindi-speaking background. He worked in various textile companies. His career progressed, and he held a pivotal role in the Birla Group. He became the Managing Director of Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals Ltd. (MRPL). In 1990, Saraf made a significant career shift at 38, founding Vinati Organics.
Key Business Strategies
Vinati Organics was established to manufacture isopropyl benzene (IBB), a key component in the painkiller ibuprofen. The company, under his leadership and later with the involvement of his daughter, Vinati Saraf Mutreja, expanded to become a major producer of ibuprofen.

Vinod Saraf has been involved in philanthropy. He focuses on causes like education, healthcare, and environmental sustainability. He has supported organizations such as the Akshaya Patra Foundation, and his company continues to support initiatives that drive social impact, including scholarships for underprivileged students.
