Early Life
Vinod Saraf was born in Rajasthan, India, into a middle-class family. He excelled in his studies from a young age, completing his schooling at a Hindi-medium school. At 17, he topped the state in his graduation and later earned a gold medal in his MBA from BITS Pilani at 19.
Rise to Success
Saraf's career began in the textile industry. He worked in several textile companies before joining the Birla Group. In 1990, at the age of 38, Saraf founded Vinati Organics. The company started by manufacturing isobutyl benzene, a raw material used in ibuprofen. Vinati Organics is now among the largest producers of ibuprofen by volume.

Vinati Organics has thrived by focusing on niche chemicals, which have given it a global market share. Saraf's leadership, strategic vision, and expansion of manufacturing capacities have been key to the company's growth. His daughter, Vinati Saraf Mutreja, now manages the company as the CEO and Managing Director, contributing to its continued growth.
