Early Life
Vasily Anisimov was born in Almaty, Kazakhstan, on September 19, 1951. He holds a degree in economics from the Alma-Ata Institute of National Economy, which he completed in 1977.
Rise to Success
Anisimov's career began in the Soviet era. He initially worked in the metallurgical industry. Later, he founded Coalco in 1994, a real estate development company that has been active in residential, commercial, and industrial real estate in Moscow and the greater Moscow region. Coalco owns significant land holdings in and near Moscow. Before his focus on real estate, Anisimov was also an early investor in the mining and metals sector, where he was a co-owner of Metalloinvest. He sold his shares in Metalloinvest in 2011.

A key strategy for Anisimov has been his ability to adapt to changing economic landscapes, demonstrating foresight by divesting from certain industries and reinvesting in emerging markets at opportune moments.
