Early Life and Education
Tyler Howard Winklevoss was born on August 21, 1981, in Southampton, New York, and was raised in Greenwich, Connecticut. He comes from a family with a background in finance; his father, Howard Winklevoss, is an author and professor of actuarial science. Tyler studied classical piano for 12 years and excelled in Latin and Ancient Greek in high school. He attended Harvard University, graduating in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. He furthered his education by completing an MBA at the Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford in 2010.
Rise to Success
Winklevoss's path to success is marked by a blend of legal battles and entrepreneurial ventures. Along with his twin brother, Cameron, and Divya Narendra, he co-founded HarvardConnection (later ConnectU), a social networking site. This led to a legal dispute with Mark Zuckerberg, resulting in a settlement that included $20 million in cash and $45 million in Facebook stock. The Winklevoss brothers used a portion of their settlement to invest early in Bitcoin.
