Early Life
Tse Ping was born into the influential Dhanin family, an Asian clan. While many family members moved to Thailand in the 1950s, Tse remained in China. During the Mao-era Cultural Revolution, he was sent to the countryside, missing out on college opportunities.
Rise to Success
Tse's career diverged from his family's agricultural business, focusing on the pharmaceutical industry, which he saw as counter-cyclical. He has over 21 years of experience in pharmaceutical investment and management. Under his leadership, Sino Biopharmaceutical became a key player in the hepatitis and therapeutic microsphere markets. Goldman Sachs acquired a stake in Sino Biopharmaceutical. He stepped down as chairman in 2015, handing the position to his daughter, Theresa, but remained as Senior Vice Chairman. His son, Eric, rose to CEO in 2022 and is the company's largest individual shareholder.
