Early Life
Theodore Permadi Rachmat, known as Teddy, was born on December 15, 1943, in Majalengka, Indonesia. He graduated from the Bandung Institute of Technology with a degree in engineering.
Rise to Success
Rachmat's career began in 1968 at Astra International, where he was employee number 15. He started as a salesman and eventually became CEO. In 1998, during the Asian financial crisis, he founded the Triputra Group. Rachmat's strategic vision led to the growth of Triputra into a significant conglomerate with diverse interests, including agribusiness, manufacturing, and mining. He also owns a minority stake in Alamtri Resources Indonesia (formerly Adaro Energy), a major coal company.
