Early Life
Sun Weijie was born in Shandong Province, China, in 1967. Showing an early aptitude for science and technology, he was inspired by the rapid technological advancements happening worldwide. His parents recognized his potential and encouraged his interest in computing.
Rise to Success
After completing his primary and secondary education, Sun Weijie attended Tsinghua University, where he majored in computer science. He graduated in the late 1980s and began his career in the tech industry, joining the research and development department of a state-owned enterprise. In 1998, Sun co-founded Kingsoft. One of the pivotal moments in his career was leading Kingsoft's initial public offering (IPO) on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2007. Sun founded Yantai Jereh Oilfield Services Group in 1999 and currently chairs the company. Jereh was listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in 2014.
