Early Life
Stefano Gabbana was born in Milan, Italy, on November 14, 1962. His parents were working-class individuals; his father worked in a printing factory, and his mother worked in a laundry service. Despite his humble beginnings, Gabbana developed a passion for fashion at a young age. He studied graphic design at the Istituto Superiore per le Industrie Artistiche in Rome.
Rise to Success
Gabbana met Domenico Dolce in 1980. They launched Dolce & Gabbana S.p.A. (D&G) in 1985. The brand gained international recognition for its bold and provocative designs. Gabbana's strengths as a designer lay in his flair for dramatic, glamorous silhouettes and his keen understanding of the fashion world's appetite for bold statements. The duo's big break came in 1993 when Madonna chose them to design the costumes for her Girlie tour.
