Early Life
Stefano Gabbana was born on November 14, 1962, in Milan, Italy. His parents, Piera and Lino, were hardworking laborers. At a young age, he developed an interest in fashion, particularly drawn to the bold and playful designs of Fiorucci. Gabbana studied graphic design at the Istituto Superiore per le Industrie Artistiche in Rome.
Rise to Success
In 1980, Gabbana met Domenico Dolce while working for Giorgio Correggiari. Gabbana honed his skills in sketching and tailoring under Correggiari’s mentorship. In 1983, Gabbana and Dolce decided to create their own company. Two years later, in 1985, they officially founded Dolce & Gabbana S.p.A. (D&G). Their first women's collection debuted in 1985 at the New Talents section of Milan Fashion Week. In 1993, the duo's big break came when Madonna chose them to design the costumes for her Girlie Show World Tour.
