Early Life
Sergey Nikolaevich Shishkarev was born on February 2, 1968, in Novorossiysk, Russia. In 1985, he enrolled in the Minsk State Linguistic University but was later drafted into the military, serving in the Northern Fleet Marine Corps. Upon recommendation, he attended the Military Red Banner Institute of the Ministry of Defense, specializing in Western languages and graduating in 1992 with honors and qualifications as a military interpreter.
Rise to Success
In 1993, Shishkarev founded the Delo Group, a freight forwarding company in Novorossiysk. The company quickly became a leading private operator of the Port of Novorossiysk. Delo Group has grown into a major transport and logistics holding in Russia.
Key Business Strategies
Shishkarev's business strategy included strategic investments in port infrastructure, such as the NUTEP container terminal, to increase capacity and efficiency. The company also expanded through acquisitions, including a stake in Global Ports and the acquisition of SASCO in 2022.
Philanthropy
Delo Group is involved in charitable and sponsorship activities. Delo Group supported the construction of one of the buildings at the Izmalkovo Boarding House for Children with Cancer, an initiative of the Gift of Life charitable foundation. The Group has also implemented a corporate program to encourage an increase in the birth rate and the formation of larger families among employees.
