Rise to Success
After the fall of the Soviet Union, Katsiev worked in a government trade mission in the Netherlands. Upon his return to Russia, he became the head of Mercury Tobacco Corporation. In 1998, he founded Megapolis, which later merged with Mercury Tobacco Corporation in 2006. This merger established Megapolis as the largest tobacco retailer in Russia. In 2022, Katsiev and his partners acquired assets of the British tobacco company Imperial Brands in Russia.
