Scot French was born on April 7, 1971, and is currently 55 years old. He graduated from the University of Illinois and later earned an MBA.
Rise to Success
French began his career at Price Waterhouse from 1992 to 1994. He then worked in Mergers & Acquisitions at Salomon Brothers Inc. from 1994 to 1999 and in the Investment Banking Division at Goldman Sachs from 1999 to 2004. Before co-founding HPS Investment Partners, he spent three years at Citigroup as a Managing Director and Head of Private Investments for Citigroup Global Special Situations. In 2007, French co-founded HPS Investment Partners. He is a Founding Partner and Co-President of HPS Investment Partners and is a member of BlackRock's Global Executive Committee.
Key Business Strategies
French's expertise lies in alternative credit management and private equity. He helped build one of the world's leading private credit platforms by applying rigorous underwriting and institutional-scale risk management. HPS Investment Partners manages a significant amount of assets. BlackRock acquired HPS in July 2025.
