Satyanarayana Chava was born in Munnaluru, Andhra Pradesh, India. He grew up in a modest environment, attending school in a neighboring village. Chava's passion for chemistry began in college, which led him to pursue a Ph.D. in bioactive marine natural products at Andhra University. He also holds an Executive MBA from the Indian School of Business and a postgraduate diploma in quality management from the World Quality Council.

Chava's career began as a researcher at Ranbaxy Laboratories, followed by a significant tenure at Matrix Laboratories, where he eventually became the Chief Operating Officer. In 2005, he founded Laurus Labs with an initial seed capital of ₹60 crore. Under Chava's leadership, Laurus Labs has grown into a global pharmaceutical and biotechnology company.
