Sarah Humphreys Atkins is the granddaughter of E.L. Craig, who founded Tamko Building Products in 1944. Craig started the company at age 69 in Joplin, Missouri. Tamko has grown to be the fourth-largest manufacturer of roofing shingles in the United States.
Rise to Success
The Humphreys family sold a 25% stake in Tamko to the Carlyle Group, a private equity firm, in 2019. Sarah and her brother David, along with their respective families, retained the remaining 75% of the company. She has been on Tamko's board for over a quarter century.
