Early Life
Sanjiv Goenka was born on January 29, 1961, in Kolkata, India, into a prominent Marwari business family. His father, Rama Prasad Goenka, was a well-known industrialist and founder of RPG Enterprises. Sanjiv completed his Bachelor of Commerce degree from St. Xavier's College, Kolkata, in 1981.
Rise to Success
Goenka joined the family business, RPG Enterprises, in 1984. He began his career as Deputy Managing Director of Dunlop India. In 1989, he acquired The Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation (India) Limited (CESC) and renamed it CESC Limited. After his father divided the business, Sanjiv founded the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group (RPSG Group) in 2011. He has since expanded the group into various sectors, including power, retail, IT, media, and sports.
