Salvatore "Sam" Tarascio was born in Vizzini, Sicily, Italy, on June 22, 1944. At the age of five, in 1949, he emigrated with his family to Australia, where he was raised in the suburb of Werribee, Melbourne. Prior to entering the property market, Tarascio worked in pharmaceutical sales.
