Early Life
Rubens Menin Teixeira de Souza was born on March 12, 1956, in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the Federal University of Minas Gerais in 1978. From a young age, Menin showed an entrepreneurial spirit, working various jobs to earn extra money.
Rise to Success
In 1979, at the age of 22, Menin co-founded MRV Engenharia with Mário Lúcio Pinheiro Menin and Vega Engenharia. MRV focused on building residential projects for the middle class. Under his leadership as Chairman since 2007, MRV has become the largest homebuilder in Brazil and Latin America. In 2018, Menin was named Ernst & Young World Entrepreneur of the Year.
Key Business Strategies
MRV Engenharia's success is linked to several key strategies: focusing on the low-to-middle-income housing market, which benefited from government programs; expanding nationwide, opening capital on the stock exchange in 2007. In addition to MRV, Menin has diversified his investments through Banco Inter and other ventures.
Philanthropy
Menin is also involved in philanthropic endeavors. MRV has an institute focused on social responsibility, and the family office Conedi Participações directs profits towards cultural and educational initiatives.
