Early Life
Romano Minozzi was born in Castelnuovo Rangone, Italy, in 1935. He earned a degree in economics from the University of Bologna. His career began in the banking sector in Modena.
Rise to Success
In 1961, Minozzi took a significant step by acquiring a struggling ceramics company, which he renamed Iris Ceramica. He secured a loan to make the acquisition. Under his leadership, Iris Ceramica expanded significantly, particularly during Italy's post-war economic boom. The company now has subsidiaries in various countries. Minozzi also served on Ferrari's board.

Minozzi's business strategy has focused on innovation and market expansion. He has leveraged his success in the ceramics industry to invest in other sectors, particularly the energy sector. Through strategic investments, he has acquired significant stakes in companies like Snam and Italgas. He is also the founder of GranitiFiandre SpA and holds positions in other companies. In May 2025, Minozzi acquired a 3.095% stake in Eni, an Italian energy group.
Philanthropy
Minozzi, along with his daughter Federica, established the Iris Ceramica Group Foundation in 2019. The foundation promotes environmental protection, sustainable development, and social cohesion.
