Richard Tsai was born in Taipei, Taiwan, in either 1957 or 1958. He comes from a prominent family, his father, Tsai Wan-tsai, founded Fubon Financial Holding Co.. Richard Tsai received a Bachelor of Laws degree from National Taiwan University in 1979 and a Master of Business Administration from the Stern School of Business at New York University in 1981.
Rise to Success
Tsai began his career at Bankers Trust in 1981. He joined Fubon Financial Holding Co. in 1984. Under his leadership, Fubon Financial Holding Co. has grown into one of the largest financial institutions in Taiwan. Richard Tsai co-leads Fubon Financial Holding Co. with his brother, Daniel Tsai.
