Early Life
Renzo Rosso was born in Brugine, Italy, in 1955, into a farming family. At the young age of 15, he began sewing jeans on his mother's sewing machine, showcasing his early interest in fashion. He attended an industrial textile manufacturing high school in Padua, where he honed his skills further. Rosso's early experiences shaped his entrepreneurial spirit, driving him to seek a different path than his farming background.
Rise to Success
Rosso's career began in 1975 when he left the University of Venice to work as a production manager at Moltex, a clothing manufacturer. He then met Adriano Goldschmied, who became his mentor. In 1978, Rosso and Goldschmied co-founded Diesel, with Rosso acquiring full control in 1985. His vision involved creating an alternative jeans brand with innovative marketing. The first Diesel store opened in New York City in 1996.

Through the 1990s, he predicted the rise of upmarket denim. Rosso expanded his business through OTB, owning multiple brands such as Maison Margiela and Marni. Philanthropy
In 2008, Rosso founded the OTB Foundation, a non-profit organization supporting sustainable development and helping communities in need. Through the foundation, he has invested in over 380 social development projects worldwide, impacting over 380,000 people. He also supports women and young people and helps in emergencies.
