Early Life
Remon Vos was born in 1970 in Stadskanaal, a small town in the Netherlands. As a child, he moved between towns after his parents divorced. By age 12, he began working to earn money, washing cars and cleaning at a hair salon on weekends. In 1991, a trip to Czechoslovakia with Johan Brakema sparked his interest in the opportunities available in the region.
Rise to Success
Vos's career took off after the fall of the Iron Curtain, when he saw the potential in Central and Eastern Europe. He initially started an import business of Dutch products and a steel parts factory in the Czech Republic. In 1998, he co-founded CTP with Johan Brakema and Eddy Maas, focusing on developing industrial properties. Their first project was an industrial park in Humpolec, Czech Republic.
CTP expanded rapidly, becoming the largest industrial developer in the Czech Republic by 2007. The company went public on the Amsterdam stock exchange in 2021. Vos's leadership has been key to CTP's growth, with the company owning over 13 million square meters of warehouses and industrial parks across ten countries by 2024.
Key Business Strategies
Vos's business strategy has focused on rapid expansion, taking advantage of lower land and labor costs in Central and Eastern Europe. He adopted a philosophy of long-term ownership, retaining properties rather than selling them. The company has focused on developing full-service business parks with amenities and support for tenants. CTP has also expanded its operations through strategic acquisitions and by attracting clients from Asia, taking advantage of the growing demand for logistics space.
Philanthropy
While specific amounts are unavailable, Remon Vos is known for his commitment to sustainability and ESG (environmental, social, and governance) practices. CTP has launched green bonds and focuses on sustainable development within its projects.
