Prasert Prasarttong-Osoth was born on March 22, 1933, in Bangkok, Siam. He received a bachelor's degree from the Faculty of Medicine at Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, and qualified as a medical doctor. Before becoming a businessman, Prasert was a surgeon.

Prasert's entrepreneurial journey began with the founding of Bangkok Dusit Medical Services (BDMS) in 1972. BDMS has grown to become Thailand's largest private healthcare group, with over 40 medical facilities in Thailand and Cambodia. In 1968, he founded Bangkok Airways, a regional airline that contributes significantly to the transportation sector.
