Early Life
Pamireddy Pitchi Reddy was born in 1957 in Dokiparru village, Andhra Pradesh, India, into a farming family. Growing up, he had a modest upbringing. His family had no prior business connections.
Rise to Success
In 1989, Reddy founded Megha Engineering Enterprises with only two employees, starting with the construction of small pipes for municipalities. In 2006, he changed the company's name to Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited (MEIL). Under Reddy’s leadership, MEIL grew into a leading infrastructure company in India.
Key Business Strategies
Reddy strategically expanded MEIL into larger infrastructure projects, including dams, power plants, natural gas distribution networks, and roads. MEIL has undertaken large-scale projects like the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme in Telangana, and has expanded its operations abroad.
Philanthropy
Reddy is known for his philanthropic work. He adopted his birthplace of Dokiparru and established the first free, solar-powered program for clean drinking water in the nation. He has also pledged to build a hospital and school for the neighborhood.
