Early Life
Howard Peter Guber was born on March 1, 1942, in Boston, Massachusetts. He attended Syracuse University, where he studied English, and later attended New York University, where he earned his J.D. and LL.M. degrees. Guber began his career in the entertainment industry in 1968 at Columbia Pictures.
Rise to Success
Guber quickly rose through the ranks at Columbia Pictures, becoming the head of worldwide production within three years. He then co-founded Casablanca Record & Filmworks, overseeing the careers of musical artists such as Kiss and Donna Summer. He later founded PolyGram Entertainment, where he was Chairman of the Board and CEO, and oversaw the production of numerous hit movies, including Rain Man, Batman, and The Color Purple. Guber formed Mandalay Entertainment Group in 1995, a multimedia venture in motion pictures, television, sports entertainment and digital media. He also became an owner of the Golden State Warriors in 2010.
