Early Life
Paul Sciarra was born circa 1981 in New York City. He developed an early interest in technology and computer science. Sciarra graduated from Yale University with a degree in History of Art. While at Yale, he met Ben Silbermann, with whom he later co-founded Cold Brew Labs.
Rise to Success
Sciarra's career began with Radius Ventures, where he gained venture capital experience. In 2003, Sciarra left his job to co-found Cold Brew Labs with Ben Silbermann. They created a shopping app named Tote. Subsequently, along with Evan Sharp, they launched Pinterest in 2010. Sciarra served as President and CEO of Pinterest during its initial growth phase.
Key Business Strategies
Sciarra's early leadership at Pinterest focused on user experience and innovation, which drove Pinterest's expansion. In 2012, he transitioned to an advisory role at Pinterest and joined Andreessen Horowitz as an entrepreneur-in-residence. Sciarra has been the Executive Chairman of Joby Aviation since 2014.
Philanthropy
Sciarra and his wife, Jennifer, signed the Giving Pledge in May 2019, committing to donate at least half their assets to charitable causes.
